Why I'm Not An Adult

It's Weekly Lessons day with Lexi and myself! I know what you're thinking, and no, I didn't learn all of these things this week. But they are things I've realized about myself over time, all adding up to teach me an important lesson about how far I am from being a fully functioning adult human.
I still pretty much use my mom instead of Google. If I have any questions on how to do anything, I'm going to be texting or calling her.

My coffee still needs lots of 'crap' in it. You know, creamer/flavors/milk/sugar/sweetener. All that uber-healthy nonsense. (This may never change, and I will forever not be an adult.)

I'm obsessed with children's movies.

And some young adult books.
I have to use Google Maps to get pretty much anywhere.

I pretty much always buy the cheapest possible option at the grocery store. Hi, non-organic/store brands!

I still don't have a primary care physician or a dentist here. We moved in November (which, consequently, is when I was due for my last dentist appointment...oopsie...)

I stretch out my time between haircuts for far too long because 1. I hate making appointments and 2. haircuts are not free.

I have an insane sweet tooth. If there are free sweets somewhere (donuts or pastries in the office, cake at a party, etc) I'm going to be having some. If there are sweets to buy somewhere (you know, the grocery store) I'm buying them. (JK, I don't buy sweets every time I go to the store. But sometimes I make special trips just to do so.) My future children will probably get to eat about half of their Halloween candy. I'll make one of those videos for Jimmy Kimmel where I tell my kids I ate their Halloween candy...but it'll be real.

  1. I was nodding my head to every single one of these! I can relate to so many of them, especially the grocery store and haircuts because I'm cheap. This summer I realized I hadn't cut my hair in a year and it was looking bad so I went in and had them chop of 6 inches so I could wait another year before the next one. :/

  2. Still not an adult over here either, as I sip my coffee full of creamer. I use Google Maps (or Waze) all.the.time.

  3. Oh my gosh. That adult cat meme is so hilarious and SO TRUE. Haha. Like, I CAN do it... but maybe I should be supervised/fed every once in a while...
I love kids movies (Hoodwinked, Fantastic Mr. Fox, etc.). And I HATE making appointments. I actually just don't go to the dentist because I hate it and as an adult I can make that decision.
    Ha.

  4. Haha clearly I'm not an adult either...and I have kids! But seriously, my coffee is full 'o creamer, and I love it! :D

  5. If black coffee makes you an adult, I want to be a kid forever. CREAM AND SUGAR for the win! ;) oh my word, that cat meme is making my DAY. So funny! This post also basically solidifies our friendship because I am with you on all of it.

  6. Haha I can totally relate to most of these! That cat meme is hilarious and SO true. I don’t have a primary care physician or dentist either, and actually visiting the two is a completely foreign concept to me. I a haircut once every 8 months. I ALWAYS buy the cheapest possible option at the grocery store (except deli turkey, but only because Jake won’t eat the cheap stuff). Happy Wednesday!

  7. I love YA books, and "childrens'" movies. I'm still annoyed that I haven't seen Finding Dory yet! I can't get anywhere without using a GPS, and that includes walking places lol. And buying the cheaper options is totally adult-y, and definitely smarter! Also, I love that cat meme- so freakin true!

  8. LOL. I will totally be with you on actually eating all of my child's halloween candy because I feel you on the sweet tooth thing. I don't think I'll ever be able to go for black coffee- but I've moved on to loving lattes without any flavoring or sugar added! haha

  9. So, I'm a lot older than you and I'm still obsessed with young adult books, my one son has always love to read and when he was done with his books, I would devour them! And you know how insane my sweet tooth is,. I'm funny though I don't waste my calories on just any old sweets, they have to be insanely good too, LOL! Keep these post coming, girl!

  10. I'd be lost without Google maps on my phone. I find comfort in hearing "You have reached your destination" ;)
I'll never stop putting yummy stuff in my coffee!!!

  11. My coffee needs goodies in it as well - creamer & sugar. I like my coffee to be a nice tan color, that's when I know I can drink it. Tee hee! I also really enjoy YA novels, they are some of my favorites & I don't feel any shame for that! :)

  12. I hate making appointments, too! When I moved my mom was constantly on me about getting doctors. It's a pain but well worth it when you finally get them all in line! And Google Maps is my go-to. I literally use it any time I am going somewhere new and then I put it on the satellite mode so I can see what the building looks like and what's around it and scope out parking. May be a little much, but it works for me!

  13. OMG I'm totally an adult cat, haha! I use Google Maps all the time and google everything under the sun (except when I'm trying to identify flowers, because my mom seriously knows every flower ever). And I'm all about sweets, especially free sweets at meetings etc. I haven't had coffee in a bit, but I cannot handle it tasting like coffee. I'll take all the caramel/vanilla flavor options you have, please!

  14. I am so not an adult. I use to drink black coffee but then one day it made me sick and I just stopped drinking it black. I need my milk and splenda in it. Oh and I only like flavored coffee. I mean I will drink regular coffee but I prefer a flavored coffee. And I'm huge fan of YA books. Guess, I'm just never growing up. And I'm ok with that.

  15. I definitely like my creamer with a little bit of coffee. ;) YES about haircuts. I just paid to get my hair fixed (and even the hairstylist admitted it wasn't a real haircut), and it was $73!

  16. You are sounding like me...I like creamer in my coffee, I stretch out my haircut and coloring way longer than I should, I crave sweets all the time and use google maps a lot for somewhere who has lived in the same area for 6 years. I just got a primary care physician and regular dentist in the last few years and I am 33 sooooo there is that.

  17. I don't think any of these things make you less of an adult...adulthood is when you can finally make your own decisions without your parents' rules! I actually like a lot of store brands. Some store-brand things are even made by the same people who make name-brand stuff.

  18. It is a rude shock when we realise we are the adult we are the one who is suppose to know what to do, how the bloody hell did that happen it was only yesterday I was a teenager with no decisions to make

  19. These are all so true! I put a lot of Stevia & creamer in my coffee because black coffee is the worst, haha. I'm the same way with doctors too. I've lived here for three years now & still don't have a primary! I hate spending a lot of money at the grocery store too which is why Target is usually my go to!

  20. I still don't drink coffee and just started drinking tea in the last few years. I pretty much prefer to eat like a 12 year old. I rely on google maps all the time. I used to say "well, I just moved here", but I've been here almost 8 years, and I'm still clueless.

  21. I can relate to ALL of these points...so much so that I was wondering if you were in my head when you were writing this post! :)

  22. I feel the same way!! In my head I'm 16, not a grown up with a management position and a husband and a mortgage! I feel like I'm faking it till I make it! :)

  23. i use google, but then if it's really important or i don't believe google, i ask my mum too lol.
hahahaha i am totally an adult cat too. yes to kids movies and books, no shame.
    ew coffee! no thanks.
yes to buying cheap things and using google maps everywhere. it's just easy!
i do have a dentist, but not a proper doctor. oops! oh well. if you don't go, do you need to go?
i can't wait to have kids so i can eat their halloween candy. i didn't get halloween candy as a kid, neither should they. i don't care if my reason is that i grew up in another country, no candy for them!

  24. This. Is (almost) my life. I eat organically and since last summer's dental scare I'm always current on dental visits, but every single thing other than those two is right on.

  25. My sweet tooth is out of control! I definitely bought some Halloween candy for myself already! And I told Brian that we are going to see Frozen 2 the day it comes out!
