Open Letters [7.28.16]

Dear blog readers,
I am the worst at remembering this link-up. I participated the first month, and forgot the last two months! I finally got my life together and am linking up with Julie and her cohost for the month, Kayla.

Dear Oregon coast,
You are beautiful/fascinating.

Dear everyone who is not lactose/gluten intolerant and enjoys s'mores/ice cream,
BUY THIS, EAT IT, AND LOVE IT. It's the first time I've had any Blue Bunny ice cream, and it is the absolute best s'mores ice cream I've had. I feel like s'mores ice cream is usually underwhelming, but in this one the graham cracker swirls are actually crunchy, there's lots of marshmallow, the ice cream is really light and--the biggest game changer of all--the ice cream is graham flavored! It's seriously perfection. I bought it because just look at those visible marshmallow swirls (also tried to highlight it in the picture, which is why it's a weird side close-up situation)! It's seasonal so excuse me while I shovel this into my mouth for the next month or so while I still can.

Dear red wine,
I think we can officially be friends now. I'm sorry I didn't like you for so long. I was young and naive. At least, my taste buds were.

Dear Husband,
Thank you for being a kid at heart like me and wanting to see Secret Life of Pets in theaters on Sunday. And for Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs being your favorite movie of all time and suggesting we watch that on Saturday night.

  1. I love when I hear of other adults that love cartoon movies as much as I do :)

  2. The Oregon coast is so pretty! My grandparents live in Astoria, so I've spent a lot of time around there! It's always so pretty! That ice cream sounds really good! I've never had s'more ice cream (usually s'mores flavored stuff doesn't tasted good.) but I might have to give that a try!
And red wine. I'm still trying to like it! haha! My brother studied in France last year and buys fancy French wines every once in a while. Every time he opens a bottle I will try a sip and I just don't like it. I keep thinking one of these days he'll get something I'll like!

  4. 1) The coastline is gorgeous. WOW.
    2) I LOVE ice cream that's flavored without anything else in it (i.e. graham flavored, sweet cream, cake batter). While the s'mores sounds awesome, I'm such a fan of light, flavored ice cream :)
    3) Red wine gives me heartburn :( Give me allll the sweet white!
    4) I married a kid-at-heart, too!! We love Hoodwinked and Fantastic Mr. Fox!

  5. Smores ice cream?!?!?!?!?!?! GIVE ME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Red wine....oh red red wine. We were never friends until a few months before I got pregnant. It was like instant besties..and then I deserted her. I hope she is still good to me when I can enjoy her again. Haha!

  6. One of the things that we ended up missing during our trip to Portland was a trip to the Oregon coast! I was so sad that we didn't have a chance to make it there, but that just means another trip back soon, right? And yes to liking all the red wine! It took me a while to love it too, but now we're besties!

  7. I would totally see Secret Life of Pets! I'm not a huge movie goer, but I'm pretty much always up for an animated movie, haha! And that ice cream looks amazinggggg. I might have to try it after I get off my Edy's Peanut Butter Cup kick!

  8. That ice cream looks SO good, though I got a ben & jerry s'mores ice cream and hated it (which I didn't even know was possible) (though I did still eat all of it, haha). I want to see Secret Life of Pets sooo bad, everyone seems to love it!

  9. My red wine palette developed with age as well! I think it's really nice to sip. I drink white wine faster I think and I enjoy the dryness of red and how I savor it more.

The Oregon Coast is one of the most beautiful things in the entire world.

  11. YAYYY so glad you linked up (I always LOVE your letters!!). First off, I just had my first sweet red wine last weekend and it was SO SO GOOD. I also feel like I owe red wine an apology. You and Michael have seen the Lorax, right? Devin and I just watched it recently and replayed that "let it die, let it die, let it shrivel up and die" scene at the end 500 times. If you haven't seen it and my reference makes no sense, go watch it!! ;)

  14. So fun, I love the variety that you are thankful for! :) My husband also wants to go see The Secret Life of Pets but since I spend my days with animated movies, I just don't long to go watch one in the theater. Haha!
