September Goals [2015]

Thanks to everyone who linked up with Julie and I yesterday for our very first monthly Tell Us About It link-up! I loved reading all of your posts! After yesterday, I'm so excited for fall I'm practically hyperventilating over it. I ordered Hocus Pocus on Amazon on Monday after mentioning it in my post. And then yesterday morning I got on the Bath & Body Works website and ordered six wall plug-in fragrances because they're having a deal. Oh and PSA: I Googled and found this 20% off promo code for online orders.

Okay, I know everyone has been saying how fast time has been going, but August was the shortest month in the history of my life, I swear. Ever since my first bridal shower at the end of May, time has been flying. I blame it on our upcoming wedding. (LESS THAN SIX WEEKS, PEOPLE!)

[Side note: I really wanted to link up with Katie and Molly for their first Bookworm Wednesday today, but I didn't finish the book I was going to review! Or any books since my last Summer Reading Challenge update. You should go link up a book related post with them!]

Here's how I did on my goals this month.

Reading
I did finish The Martian and started Americanah. I didn't finish it like I had planned, but I read Flight instead so I still read two books. Americanah has been kind of hard to get into for me. It's just more complex, less of an easy read than I've been reading lately.

Exercise
BIG. FAT. FAIL. Ugh. I feel really bad about this. I need to find my motivation.

Meal Prep & Healthy Eating
Gave up on meal prep because I was sick of being the one doing all of it. Michael said, "I miss meal prep." I said, "I don't, because I like not being stressed out on Sundays." Healthy eating more or less. I'm going to try to amp it up this month.

Seattle CityPass Weekend
Well, we decided not to do this. Boo.

Wedding Dress Fitting!
I had three fittings in August. My final fitting is September 17th! I'm doing my hair trial that day too, because seeing the dress with my hair done will be SO different. I'm also hoping to go to the Bobbi Brown counter at Nordstrom that day, show them some inspiration pictures, and have them do my makeup. Then I can buy some of the products and my sister will do my makeup on the big day (she worked at the Laura Mercier and MAC counters in the past).

And September's goals!

Reading
Finish Americanah by September 21st for the Summer Reading Challenge. I also have Where'd You Go Bernadette? on my Kindle from the library and I need to read that this month too!

Exercise
BE MUCH BETTER AT THIS! I need to find out if I still have hot yoga classes available. I also need to run more. I need to do arm and ab exercises more too. And stretching! I've gotten lazy about post-run stretching lately and that's bad. And I think I need to bite the bullet and buy this baby to help keep me motivated and hold me accountable. Seriously, it's crazy how much those things help. (Okay, after writing this on Monday I went ahead and ordered it. The wedding is so soon that I need motivation sooner rather than later!) Because I ordered the Fitbit, I'm going to add 10,000 steps per day every day to this goal (starting Friday because I had it shipped to my parents' and we'll be down there this weekend).

Healthy Eating
Working on this. I have no willpower and sometimes will go crazy and buy candy or something that I don't need either at work or the store...I need to stop.

Detox
This goes along with healthy eating. Recently, I got a crazy headache. I assumed I was dehydrated. But caffeine is actually what I needed. I usually don't get to the caffeine withdrawal stage, and I don't like being there, so I'm cutting back. I won't cut out coffee completely, but I don't need to drink it every single day. If I drank black coffee, this wouldn't be a goal. But that creamer added in just isn't good for my healthy eating goal. I also hardly ever drink alcohol anyway, but I'm going to try to do it even less (if that's even possible) this month.

Drink more water!
I used to be constantly refilling my water bottle at work. Most days, I would drink at the very least 96 ounces of water every day. At some point that just stopped happening. I waited until later in the morning to fill it, I didn't fill it as many times...I need to get back to it.

Past goals:
June
July
August

I'm linking up with Holly for Waiting on Wednesday! Also joining the Monthly Goals Link-Up whenever that goes live!

  5. You make me want to do a monthly goals post! I am such a mess and now that school is started I'm so angry I didn't do more over the summer to feel more prepared now. I do this EVERY YEAR and yet... here we are. AGAIN.

  6. I heard "Where'd You Go Bernadette?" is an awesome book! I also make exercise goals every month (and tend to fail!). Maybe this will be the month that we stick to our exercise goals!

  7. First of all you have the prettiest blog! I love the header design!

Second, I am the same with water! It's so hard for me to drink. Right now I drink right between 64-70 oz a day but that is a struggle. I have found that infusing with cucumber and lemons makes it much easier to drink!

  10. Last year i tried to do monthly goals and fell away from it but I need to start again and you've inspired me! :)

I need to work out, eat healthier, and drink more water too! Ongoing goals for sure. And as awesome as meal prep is it takes a lot of time!

  11. Monthly goals are hard especially when you have something like a wedding coming up. Don't be too hard n yourself. Everything will work out!

  12. Congrats on your upcoming wedding! I well remember how crazy and exciting that time can be! I really struggle with the whole caffeine thing. My body gets dependent really quickly, like after one week of coffee every day, I'll get a headache if I don't have coffee. This is why I only drink coffee on special occasions. I drink a lot of black tea, but I switch it up by drinking it at different times of the day and throwing in some green or other decaf teas in there sometimes. I've found that irregularity helps keep my body from getting addicted.

  13. I love Bath & Body Works so much! We tried meal prepping and it really is hard to keep up with it. Now we just mean prep our lunches and have them ready to go for Monday through Thursday. Even though it's not all the meals, it's good enough for us right now. I'm sure after your wedding, you'll get back into the swing of things! It's almost here!!!

  14. Looks like you have some great goals for September!! Yay for Fitbits!!! I am loving my Fitbit HR and it really does make me more aware of how much I am moving around. Meal planing on Sundays is a must for me. If I don't do it, it stresses me out!

  15. YAY for less than six weeks till your wedding! Such a fun time! I gave up on meal planning too-mostly because Chris doesn't come home the same time every day, so dinner depends on how much time I have until he gets home! haha.

  16. I just did a monthly goals post too! I didn't realize there was a link-up for it! I'm going to have to join that next time. I may have an idea to help you out with the exercise/nutrition thing this month. I'll send you an email!

  18. Literally my goals are September are to get my scheduling under control, I've been super stressed and just letting things slide, which is stressing me out more!

  19. Haha just make one big meal on Sunday that you can eat as leftovers! Then that's less stressful for that day and hopefully will help you out during the week! I am all about the treats. Candy corn back on the shelves = BAD! I really want a FitBit!! I had one two years ago and the battery fell out at a concert :( I need to invest again!

  20. Looks like you have some really awesome goals for September! I've never used a Fit Bit or anything like that but I can definitely see how it would make you more accountable since the number is right in front of you. I had the same type of headache last week too! And it's crazy that it was all because of caffeine. Good luck with cutting out the coffee! I drink it every single day & it's SO good!

  21. I totally need to add drinking more water to my goal list! I used to drink so much of it but now I feel myself slacking! I love your September goals!

  26. YES get a FitBit so we can be friends on the app and keep each other accountable!

I wish I wasn't behind on blogging so I wouldn't have missed the first Tell Us About It link up :( Next month for sure!

  27. This us the first time I've read your blog, so I'm not sure when the wedding is. When I got down to crunch time, Jillian Michaels 30 Day Shred really helped me tone things up at the last minute.
